Secret Witness

30 January 2004

The supposed Iranian ex-agent Zakeri testified today in the Mzoudi terror trial, and was not very convincing, according to radio reports and Spiegel Online. Zakeri, who claims also to have worked for the CIA and the German BND, could only say that he heard from an unidentified Iranian official that Mzoudi was among the 9/11 [...]

Say the magic words

27 January 2004

Three weeks ago my wife had her purse stolen. All her cash and cards were gone. Credit cards, EC cards, DL, ID card, frequent flyer cards. She noticed within 30 minutes and had all her cards stopped. No harm done, except for the cash, and the temporary emotional distress.

But the bank, when stopping the EC [...]

DeanBlog and MirowBlog

27 January 2004

Most of what Dave says (well, said… he’s since edited his post) about the Dean blog can be applied to MirowFuerHamburg as well: “Lots of epitaphs about Dean blogging and how it helped or hurt the campaign. They’re all making the same basic mistake. They never did blogging at the Dean campaign. They have a [...]

Mirow Blog

24 January 2004

As can be read at the usual north German blogging suspects, the SPD candidate in Hamburg Thomas Mirow has a campaign weblog, the first in Europe.

However, my first impression of MirowFuerHamburg is exactly that of Mirow himself: flat and lifeless. He’s not Howard Dean, he’s a quiet party insider. While I might want Dean [...]
