Yup – I’m talking about coverage of issues (such as the Iraq War and US Domestic politics) where there’s substantial overlap between the US & European press.

Actually, I’m at least as concerned about the perception among (most?) Europeans of both their own and the American press as I am about the imbalance in the press itself.

American public discourse is nowhere near as one-sided as most Europeans seem to believe, and the widespread belief that it is one-sided and purely propaganda driven allows people to dismiss any consideration of other points of view without actually giving them any sort of hearing at all.

In which case we’re talking past each other, since I already know how the American press works. I’m not sure that an average German would know anything about the US press, but as a Besserwisser that wouldn’t prevent them from expressing an opinion. :-)
