Hm. I sometimes worry that if someone reads the wrong entry, it might actually prevent me from getting a job. Although, the cooler non-bloggers think blogs are, the less this seems to be a threat. But as an academic it's certainly a concern (even when you're basically dormant, like I am).

Funny enough, I got recruited partly because of my experience with blogs; the job offer was a blog post that said experience with blogs was a plus -- and both the recruiter and the coworker who interviewed me are bloggers.
I also got my current flatmate by commenting on his blog when he announced he needed a new flatmate. Just when I was so desperate of not finding a place to stay that I was thinking of blogging about the search!
So, in a way, blogging got me a job and a roof.
