We went to my husband's 20th year High School reunion this summer, out in CA.
It was kind of fun, since they seem very special in the US compared to Germany. It was funny too, because it was his first reunion and he hadn't seen most of them in 20 years, since he moved to the East Coast.
Even though it's a pain to get there, unless you still live there, I think you should go when you can.

Eu não falo português, não mais. I've forgotten nearly it all, although on vacation in Portugal a few years ago I got along fairly well.

The funny thing, in high school all I wanted was to get out of the small town. Now I live in an even smaller town (although civilization now is only a few minutes drive away instead of 3 hours drive).

Bom dia! I'm always surprised to which extent high-school years have a lasting impact, in so many ways.

>I was in a car crash myself while driving to my wife’s prom. I never made it; >the car was totaled, I needed stitches. She found a new date that very >evening.

That would be a great opening sequence for a dramatic family movie - with a happy ending!
