Report Card Vacation

by PapaScott on 31 January 2007

This week the schoolkids in Niedersachsen get 2 days off school for Zeugnisferien, or report card vacation. As far as I know, the first graders at Christopher’s school don’t even get report cards, but they get the days off anyway.

Even better, today his school lets out at 10 am, after exactly 90 minutes in class. So working parents lose 3 days instead of 2.

That din you’ll be hearing in the background is the sound of somewhat more chaos than usual.

No, no, no. You’re looking at this all wrong. Forget about work. Enjoy the time off with your family. Your employer will understand (hehe, “they” have no choice). They’d do the same. Surely, they can deal with a few employees taking some much-deserved time off. I mean, c’mon. There are more important things in life than stupid old work. And besides, what could go wrong in two and a half days that can’t wait until you get back?

(Sarcasm? What sarcasm?)

There is a laboratory in Eckernförde that has closed down because of school vacation. Imagine that. They don´t even answer the phone. We got to wait ´til Monday for results.
