Background on McCafé

by PapaScott on 07 May 2007

MamaMaus was sent a trade magazine article on McCafé in Germany (PDF, 770K, in German) that she wanted to share. It explains the concept (coffee shop atmosphere with the convenience and value of McDonald’s) and some of the details of operation.

Our soon-to-be restaurant does not have a McCafé yet, but we want one as quickly as we can and our it’s included in our financial planning for this year. Maybe it will look something like this (design concept Generation Wenge)…

I like the McCafé atmosphere. While my kids are on Happy Meal I’m catering myself at the coffee stop ;-) … But what I notice is that the McDonald’s personell is still doesn’t have much routine with the McCafé facility. They are quite insecure with the handling and the procedures …

The new one near us is really nice. The chocolate cake is to die for — very rich and chocolatey, and very unlike what you’d get at a “regular” bakery — more like something you’d get at Shoney’s, Bennigan’s, etc.

Mmmm, now I’m hungry…
